Perfect For
- Kitchen Countertops: Keep your workspaces gleaming, free from etches caused by spills and daily use.
- Bathroom Surfaces: Restore the shine to marble vanities and other moisture-prone areas.
- Decorative Stone: Maintain the elegance of your marble tabletops, statues, and accents.
Marble Repair Kit includes:
- (1) Quart of MB-5 Stone & More Multi Surface Spray Cleaner
- (1) 8oz MB-11® Touch Up Etch Remover
- (1) Quart of Finito Ultimate Finishing Spray
This kit should be used in the above order as well.
Note:
- MB-11 is NOT for honed finishes!
- MB-11 is NOT for dark stones!
- All powders are packed by weight and not by volume.
Directions:
Step 1: MB-5
- Hold sprayer about 6 to 8 inches from surface.
- Spray a light mist over the area to be cleaned.
- Let the product sit for approximately 30 seconds.
- Buff the surface dry with a paper towel or a clean white cloth.
- When towel becomes wet, discard and start with a fresh one.
Step 2: MB-11®
- Use rubber gloves. Grab a clean white cloth or microfiber and fold it twice to make 4 layers. Wrap it tightly around your fingers/knuckles. Hold the loose portion of the towel in your hand so that it stays out of the way while you work. Dampen the wrapped fingers by spritzing them with water. Remove any excess water as you want your cloth damp, not wet.
- Tap your damp cloth into the powder in the jar to get a THIN layer on your wrapped fingers/knuckles. There should be a consistent layer of powder, but no excess flaking off.
- Rub the affected area vigorously with the wrapped fingers in a back-and-forth motion. This should be done quickly and with a lot of pressure. After about 10 back-and-forth motions, finish up with a few circular motions.
- If you have any residue left do NOT wipe it away with the cloth until you have neutralized it with a pH-neutral cleaner like our MB-5. Use the loose part of the towel to wipe away the paste in a single motion. Spray the spot with a pH-neutral cleaner and buff clean with a SECOND microfiber cloth. Do NOT use the same cloth used to apply the product.
- Inspect the repaired area and repeat the process with the same cloth as necessary. Adding more water if needed.
Step 3: Finito Ultimate
- Spray Finito Ultimate Spray Polish misting it evenly over the surface.
- Wipe and buff in with a microfiber, or other soft cloth.
- After the product has been spread evenly, flip the cloth over and buff dry.
For large countertops or stone surfaces, MB-11 is NOT recommended and the Finito Ultimate Spray Polish may be buffed in with a low-speed (600 RPM) machine and a wool bonnet, or white pad. All are available at MB Stone, just give us a call at 888-509-5831.

Jul 18, 2022Thank you for the great feedback. So happy we could help. I know you said that it took care of 90% of the etching but can you tell me if the other 10% of the etching was smooth or rough to the touch before using the MB-11? It may be possible those etches may require something a little more aggressive. If you would like to send me some photos of the left over etching, I will be happy to show my pro and see if he has any recommendations for you. My email is ronda@mbstonecare.com. Please let me know how I can help!

Frequently Asked Questions
What causes water stains or rings on natural stone?
When acidic cleaning agents, food, or hand soap, come into contact with marble surfaces or other calcite-based stones, the acid reacts with it, creating light, dull marks on the surface called etching.
The etching is often very light and can only be seen at an angle, or it can be apparent and white in appearance. Sometimes these stains are also rough to the touch. When either of these happen, marble repair kits can help to restore these surfaces.
How can I prevent damage to my marble surface?
Acids are the primary cause of marble damage, so you must be very careful with acids around your marble. Prevent acidic foods such as lemons, limes, tomatoes, and wine from coming into contact with your marble countertop.
We advise using a pH-neutral cleaner like MB-5 Stone & More. Even hand soaps and shampoos can etch your marble, so be sure to use cutting boards when appropriate and stone-safe soaps as well, like our Blueskies hand soap.
Does this repair kit help to repair chipped marble?
This kit is specifically designed to rid your marble of surface etching. It does not contain epoxy glue or other products to help you repair chipped marble, cracks, and broken edges, which will need to be filled.
You can have a look at one of our marble repair products, such as the Granite & Marble Repair Kit, to try and tackle any chip repairs. However, we do NOT recommend attempting to repair chips and cracks on your kitchen or bathroom countertops without talking to one of our MB Stone Professionals first.
Can I use the kit to repair a broken marble countertop?
The short answer is no. You cannot use this kit to repair broken slabs of marble. Repairing a broken slab requires sanding the surfaces and applying colored epoxy glue while wiping away any excess epoxy.
While we offer the Granite & Marble Repair Kit, we do NOT recommend tackling any repairs without first talking to one of our MB Stone Professionals. Sanding produces marble dust, which can present health concerns.
This is because marble dust is toxic when inhaled, so it is essential to talk to us before attempting a DIY repair.
What is marble etching?
There are specific reasons why etch marks appear on marble surfaces. They may occur when marble is exposed to acidic beverages, such as alcohol, wine, soft drinks, and coffee. These marks may also form when you use ammonia, vinegar, bleach, and other cleaners on your marble.
This is because of the chemical makeup of the stone. Marble stone contains calcium carbonate, which makes it soluble in acid. Therefore, it undergoes a chemical reaction that results in etching or damage to the marble. It is equivalent to burning, which eliminates the uppermost thin layer of the marble.
How can I prevent etch marks on polished marble?
Use precautions when using acidic products near your marble counters. Cutting boards should be used when dicing up fruits or tomatoes. Rugs or mats on your floors can be used to protect them from possible spills, scuffing of the tile, etc.
Moreover, using a pH-neutral cleaner like our MB-5 Stone & More will help prevent etching because it is pH-neutral, unlike other commercial products. Even switching up your hand soap for our Blueskies Hand Soap which does not etch, will help keep your marble in tip-top shape.
