* How to Preserve and Restore Your Natural Stone Surface

Do your granite, marble, or other natural stone surfaces look stained, dirty, and etched from acidic substances? A common misconception is that natural stone surfaces such as granite countertops won’t be able to regain their original look once they faded. However, with professional stone care, you can restore any natural stone to its originality.

With a combination of expert tips and top-grade stone preservation and restoration tools, you can have your natural stone surface looking as good as new. Below is a guide on how to preserve and restore your natural stone.

Tips on Restoring Natural Stone Surfaces

Natural stone is a huge investment, making etching, chipping, or staining a significant challenge. Luckily, there are products specifically designed to clean and restore these surfaces. MB Stone Care offers quality products to restore marble, granite, and quartz surfaces as well as other stone types without destroying the stone or reducing stone colors.

Before the restoration process, it is vital to select the correct product to solve the specific problem. The product should also be suited for the particular stone type. Not all products are to be used on all stone types. Regardless of the stone type, avoid using countertops, bathrooms, or commercial kitchen cleaners on natural stone surfaces.

These products include:

Stain Reaper

This Poultice paste stain remover is designed to pull out deep-rooted dirt, oil, and an assortment of stains. It is easy, ready to use, and does not release volatile organic compounds. You can use it on marble, granite, travertine, and limestone. It is also safe to use on polished finishes.

  • Ensure all surfaces not meant to be treated are covered for their protection.
  • Wet the area to be treated.
  • Apply the Poultice paste to a surface 1/8 to ¼ inches thick using any ideal applicator.
  • Cover the paste using plastic film and allow it to rest for 24 hours. The paste will cling to the stone surface. Tape the edges down.
  • Get rid of the plastic film and let the paste dry. As it dries, it pulls the stains from the stone.
  • Remove the dried paste and trapped contaminants by scrapping off the stone surface. Avoid scraping the surface using metal tools to avoid scratching the surface.
  • Rinse the surface with clean water. Remove as much residue as needed.
  • Repeat this process if need be.

The remover is very effective and safe on various natural marble glossy surfaces.

  • Wear rubber gloves to avoid direct contact with the skin. Direct the product in a 1:2 proportion with warm water.
  • Apply liberally with a sponge and let it stand, without allowing the solution to dry, until the soap scum starts to break up.
  • Slightly scrub using a plastic scouring pad or a scrub brush.
  • Rinse the surface thoroughly.
  • Repeat the process if required. Keep in mind that drying is not required.

  • Keep in mind that this product is not a rinse-free product. Ensure you rinse thoroughly using plenty of water.
